Evidence, assumptions and corrections
This ledger records the facts and limits most likely to change a buying decision. It accompanies the provider reviews and the cost lab. POS Review is VoVi-owned, and our sources include VoVi-provided product information. Those relationships do not turn research or arithmetic into independent hands-on testing.
What was checked
Official provider pricing, product and help documentation was reviewed on September 25, 2026. The reviews use US prices only where that market and plan were identified. Source links are attached to the relevant provider pages so readers can inspect current terms.
The review set covers VoVi, Square, Shopify POS, Clover, Lightspeed Retail and Toast. Lightspeed price references specifically concern Retail X-Series. Public plan descriptions are not a complete merchant agreement, and local promotions or negotiated offers can differ.
VoVi product information and its limits
VoVi-provided product specifications describe six app UI languages and country-specific setup: local operating currencies, tax settings, relevant cash rounding and store time settings. Each account has one country and one currency. Software billing in US dollars is separate from the store’s operating currency.
The supported matrix excludes Greece, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, the Philippines, Kenya, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Canada excludes Québec restaurants. The additional European fiscal programme includes Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Sweden; provider identity, configuration-specific terms and any additional charges still require confirmation. We do not claim independent fiscal certification.
Card payments use an external terminal. US free software still requires VoVi’s credit-card processor, merchant approval and its terms. Own-processor US software and international software are US$99/month per location. Software billing currency and the store’s operating currency are different concepts.
Consequential source updates
Shopify’s current migration documentation says Stocky stopped managing inventory after August 31, 2026. New comparisons use Shopify’s current inventory workflow and require confirmation of plan entitlements. Historical records and integrations need their own migration check.
Lightspeed’s pricing page changes with country and billing selection. We verified its US figures with United States selected and checked both annual and monthly billing. An unqualified rate scraped from the page’s international state was not reused as a US payment rate.
Square’s comparison uses its current unified Free, Plus and Premium structure. Clover’s total remains quote-specific. Toast’s starter price is labeled with eligibility and configuration limits, and its unknown processing cost is not entered as zero.
What remains a buyer-specific question
Hardware compatibility, negotiated payment rates, fiscal setup, support commitments, imports, app subscriptions and cancellation terms require evidence for the actual merchant. The guide’s demo scenarios are proposed tests, not reports that our team already performed them.
Send a correction with the affected page, exact claim, country, plan and official source where possible. Material changes should update both the explanation and the relevant tool defaults. We preserve the distinction between a corrected fact and a new editorial opinion.
